"When I Grow Up" (Fever Ray) by Martin de Thurah

The subject's beautiful, rhythmic dancing in combination with the song create a surrealistic environment. I love the non-literal nature of this piece because it allows the viewer to interpret it a variety of different ways.

  1. I agree. I really enjoy how this piece allows for multiple interpretations.

  2. I love how the girl's outfit is sort of a manifestation of all things childhood, like the plastic spoons, yarn and marker, as well as the foam letters stuck to her legs. I sort of got a feel that maybe it was about a daughter not living up to her father's expectations? Or maybe even a bad relationship between father and daughter? Nonetheless, a very cool video.

  3. Just the way that it is filmed really contributes to the sort of primitivism in the video. It really gives the feel of wanting to grow up and break free.
