I watched the "Foundations of Photography: Black and White" lessons and converted this photo to greyscale with a black and white adjustment layer. I also blurred the background, sharpened the hand in the foreground, and dodged/burned specific areas. I'm interpreting the signs theme as a depiction of universally understood signs among people.
