LOVE YOUR BODY

My goal was to use this outrageous imagery to send a message of American gluttony and excess. Instead of condemning it, however, I wanted to send a satirical message to embrace and adore this excess.

  1. The thing that I like most about your piece is its message. Also, I like how you used the American Flag in your piece.

  2. love the warm and cool colors..the red and yellow plays against the blue very well. I also think the message is great. telling people to embrace who they are but at the same time being playful

  3. I like the message you are trying to send, as much as obsession with excess (for example obesity with food) in America is a growing problem, if there is one thing you cannot change about our culture it is our attachment to excess I think. Excess, as well as capitalism are both associated with ultimate achievement. I like the way you portray excess as a "dual" topic with both good and bad qualities. Your poster is definitely effective and I get your purpose from it.

  4. The colors you used are really effective and eye-catching. I think it was a solid choice to use the American flag in the background, because it makes viewers think of gluttony in the US specifically. The poster conveys a very alternative message - instead of seeing 'love your body' paired with the image of a perfect-looking model, it's paired with a more common and realistic-looking person, and instead of something negative about obesity, we're being told to embrace ourselves as we are. Very cool.

  5. The color choice is very nice as is the choice to use an atypical body type (in terms of what is usually seen in the media) to encourage loving one's own skin. I do not think the American flag is necessary in the sense that it targets this ad to only one country where I think it could be universal.

  6. I like your theme and the way you presented your idea however i find it hard to see the satirical part in it. I would assume that you meant love your body no matter your size or shape. I love the colors and the way you put it together, it looks really nice!

  7. I love the posters in the newspaper stands :) two great minds think alike! When I see the design I think of the film super size me. Love the usage of American flag, portraying the idea of obesity in our culture today. I think it contradicts the idea that you can't actually love your body because being unfit is extremely unhealthy and can cause more problems physically and emotionally. I like how you collage a bunch together also. It really makes them stand out!

  8. I would agree with Gabriella. There is a sense of love your body no matter what. The American flag seems almost like after though, somewhat tying together America's obesity, unhealthy behavior, etc. Maybe if it's supposed to be ironic choosing a more submissive photo would have been better. The body language of this guy makes me feel like he's proud to not be so in shape.
