The way you juxtapose smoking with brushing your teeth is very thought provoking. I do understand that your piece is telling viewers that in addition to bad lungs smoking can cause bad breath and rotten teeth.
the small cigarettes being used as bristles are eye catching. The colors are interesting and it has a magazine quality. I think the message is well communicated
I like the information you present along with your images. I think one of the most important aspects of a poster is the text as well as the images and whether that text informs or not. I like that the poster is informative and effective.
I think your manipulation of images is really effective in sparking interest; it makes the viewer want to read the paragraph. I do think the coloring of the two photos is a little strange because of the extreme difference in skin tone, but overall the poster is effective and creatively delivers the message you wanted to convey.
I love the substitution of cigarette smoke for perfume and cigarettes for toothbrush bristles. It makes one think twice about how a cigarette can operate in our lives. It may not come in a perfume bottle or on a toothbrush, but acts as such things.
The images you used for this piece really caught my attention. I think the use of alot of text made me stop and actually analyze what's actually demonstrated in the photos. After focusing on the black text on the bottom is when I noticed the toothbrush bristles made out of cigarettes. One thing I would alter is the text in the second image. The white fades and is barely readable towards the end. I'm not even sure if the text at the bottom of the page is necessary. I sorta get the idea from the actual photographs. Great job overall! :)
without a doubt the photoshoping of the cigarettes as perfume and toothbrush bristles is pretty cool and eye catching. I like the idea of a poster as an informative piece. I wonder how it would have been different if you would have displayed harmful effects of cigarettes that are not well known. Maybe there would be a greater shock value there? Most students might not pay attention just because they're so used to hearing about bad breath and smelling bad from cigarettes.
You chose a common concept but carried it out in a unique way. You're message is effective. The fine print is reminiscent of that on cigarette boxes. May be more effective if the two images were two separate posters but overall great job.
The imagery is done very well, you photoshopped it very nicely. the imagery is subtle, yet apparent enough that it would make someone stop to take a closer look, which is a good strategic form.

ReplyDeleteThe cigarettes as toothbrush bristles is a really great idea, I love it. The though-provoking imagery works well for the poster.
